San Antonio is growing! Parts of the city that used to be out in the county are now parts of the inner city. Many septic systems are still functioning where city sewer is now available. Since a properly functioning septic system is not required to be abandoned once the city sewer is available, there are many OLD septic systems around.

In fact, some homeowners don’t even know they still have a septic system if the house has been sold several times. But what happens when those systems fail? If city sewer is available, the homeowner is typically required to hook up to the city sewer. This approach is usually less expensive than installing a new septic system, but it can cost just as much as a new septic system or more in rare cases. While we do not provide service to hook up to city sewer, the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) can recommend approved companies that can provide this work.
