Pump Your Tank

Pump Your Tank

Pumping your septic tank is one of the most important things you can do to keep your system functioning properly, yet, it’s one of the things that most homeowners don’t do. Why fix it if it ain’t broke? Well, because it will break if you don’t pump it, and when it breaks, there’s usually no fixing it….most systems require complete replacement!

The tank’s job is to trap the solids so only the liquids flow on to the drainfield. But, if the tank is too full with solids, those solids will start to flow out to the drainfield too!

Most septic tanks should be pumped every 3-5 years on average. This is for maintenance and the longevity of your septic system. Frequency is dependent upon the size of the tank and the number of occupants using the system. For example: a family of 6 on a 1000-gallon tank will need to pump out the tank more frequently than a family of 3 on a 1000-gallon tank.
